Sister Rose Plathottathil (second from right) returned to Nazareth for a brief visit Monday, reconnecting with Sisters and reflecting on the long connection between Nazareth and the Sisters who have served in India.
Sister Rose was traveling in the United States with family after attending events in Minneapolis. She was on her way to Houston, Texas, with her youngest brother and his daughter, her niece, when they stopped at the Nazareth Motherhouse for the afternoon.
Sister Rose currently serves in Rajgir, where she oversees Chirag, a hostel that is home to about 250 students who stay there while attending school.
While at Nazareth, Sister Rose visited the cemetery and stopped at the graves of Sisters who served in India. For her, the visit was a reminder of the many Sisters whose lives and work helped shape the Congregation’s presence there. “The spirit of service and zeal we carry came from Nazareth,” Sister Rose said.
