The scripture readings for the 32nd Sunday
in Ordinary Time focus on wisdom, hope, and the need for spiritual readiness. Wisdom
is not something we passively stumble upon; it requires intentionality, early
rising (diligence), and a heart set on God. In the Gospel parable, the
"oil" represents things that cannot be borrowed at the last
minute—personal faith, grace, charity, and a cultivated relationship with God.
You cannot rely solely on the spiritual habits of family members or friends when
the crucial moment arrives; personal readiness is essential. St. Paul reminds
us that physical death is not the final chapter. Our faith in Christ's
resurrection anchors us with a unique hope that comforts us in times of loss
and reorients how we live our everyday lives.

During the month of November, we remember those who
have gone before us as well as the saints among us. In November, we remember,
we celebrate, we believe. I have always loved the month of November. It is the
month where the weather is cooler and the trees are shedding their leaves. November
is the month of change as we begin to turn our hearts toward Advent. May these
days be filled with wisdom, hope, and spiritual readiness.
