As July begins, we mark the height of summer with Independence Day on July 4. This is a time to reflect on the freedoms we are blessed to enjoy in the United States.

The Sisters of Charity of Nazareth remain focused on a mission to serve others selflessly and without compromise. Across the United States and globally, we stand with the poor, the sick, the oppressed and the marginalized. May we stand with those whose freedoms and rights are threatened. May we promote justice, expand access to education and health care, and defend human dignity for all.

This Independence Day, we ask God for wisdom and courage to use our liberty not for self-interest, but in service of others, especially the most vulnerable. May we never take freedom for granted, and may our actions reflect the values we celebrate.
